BIO
Fronted by singer songwriter and multi-instrumentalist Darren Purvis. Blending acoustic elements, dark acoustics, folk and rock to create a spell binding concoction. Darren writes, performs, records and produces all of his own work.
Based in The Forest of Dean District, United Kingdom. Darren has been writing songs for many years. His previous project was Welsh alternative rock band ‘Germinal’ achieving some outsider success with the album ‘From Hibernation’ in 2006.
Drawing on lyrical influences from existential literature, and musical influences from spaghetti western films from the 1960’s and 1970’s, as well as Delta Blues and alternative experimental rock. Nemesis Uncle songs have been described as sonic landscapes that is both ominous and captivating
“I have always been drawn to the inspiration from natural outside spaces, whether it be the vast landscape of a moorland or being amongst the trees of a forest, the isolation and silence within these landscapes has always inspired my songwriting. I enjoy working with acoustic sounds and textures to create an organic atmosphere of something different”
In 2023 Nemesis Uncle released the album ‘Songs Of Judas.’ ‘The Sword’ and ‘Deep Sea’ being the most streamed and dowloaded songs from the ’Songs Of Judas’ album. In 2025 Nemesis Uncle releases the most ambitious album yet, the double album; 'Vanishing Sun.'
